Psychological help for adults in Haaksbergen
At Psychologiepraktijk De Wilder in Haaksbergen, adults from Haaksbergen, Enschede and the surrounding area are welcome for psychological help with a wide range of mental health concerns.
The practice offers treatment within generalist basic mental health care, with care that is carefully tailored to your personal situation, symptoms and request for help.

Personal and professional care
Psychologiepraktijk De Wilder is a small-scale private practice for adults who are looking for psychological treatment in a personal setting. Treatment is not focused on symptoms alone, but also on the broader context in which difficulties arise and continue. There is attention to who you are, what you have experienced, and what you need in order to move forward.
The practice works from an eclectic and holistic perspective.
This means that different therapeutic methods may be combined, depending on what fits your situation best. Besides psychological symptoms, attention may also be given to factors such as lifestyle, stress, sleep and, when relevant, hormonal influences.

Professional background
I am a psychologist and lead clinician with a broad professional background in pedagogy, psychology, education and coaching.
In my work, I see psychological difficulties not as isolated symptoms, but in connection with a person’s life history, relationships and circumstances.
In 1999, I completed two academic master’s degrees: one in developmental and psychological problems, and one in attachment-related difficulties. This dual academic background continues to shape the way I work today, combining psychological understanding with attention to development, relationships and context.
Over the years, I have worked in a variety of roles both within and outside formal mental health care. My experience includes working as a lecturer and student counsellor at (applied) Universities, running my own practice in coaching and leadership training, and working with young adults in specialist mental health care, in open and secure youth care, and in generalist basic mental health care.
In 2025, I completed a two-year post-master training programme as a Registered Psychologist with the Dutch Institute of Psychologists (NIP, Registerpsycholoog NIP®). This is an advanced postgraduate professional registration in the Netherlands, aimed at independent practice.
Since returning to formal mental health care in 2022, I have continued to deepen my clinical work. At present, I work as a lead clinician in a generalist basic mental health care practice. From 2026 onwards, I also offer treatment and guidance for adults in my own practice in Haaksbergen.
My way of working is careful, involved and person-centred, with attention to what is needed to help someone regain more clarity, stability and direction in life.

Language and cultural sensitivity
I speak English at Cambridge proficiency level and I also speak German very well. In the past, I have worked with students from both European and non-European countries. This experience has taught me the importance of working in a culturally sensitive way, with attention to each person’s background, language and personal context.

Treatment methods
The practice works with evidence-based treatment methods, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT),
EMDR and psychological coaching.
Where appropriate, elements from other therapeutic approaches may also be used.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can help you better understand and manage your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Together, we look at patterns that may be keeping difficulties going and work step by step towards more helpful ways of thinking and responding.
How I work
We start by looking at the bigger picture: your symptoms, background, strengths and what is currently happening in your life. Based on this shared understanding, we decide together what fits best: CBT, EMDR or a combination of approaches.
CBT can be helpful for
- anxiety and worrying
- low mood or depressive symptoms
- stress and burnout
- obsessive or compulsive symptoms
- insecurity and a negative self-image
- difficulties with emotion regulation

EMDR therapy can help process distressing or stuck memories. The aim is to reduce their emotional intensity, so that the past has less impact on how you feel and function in the present.
How I work
During EMDR, we briefly focus on a specific memory while you simultaneously follow a form of bilateral stimulation, such as hand movements or a light. This helps the brain process the memory in a different way. The pace and approach are always carefully adjusted, and together we consider whether EMDR is the right fit—sometimes in combination with other interventions.
EMDR can be helpful for
- trauma and PTSD-related symptoms
- anxiety and panic symptoms
- distressing memories that continue to be triggered
- feelings of shame or guilt linked to past events
- difficulties where past experiences still have a strong impact in the present
Training
I am currently in the final stage of my training to become an EMDR Practitioner (VEN).

Psychological coaching focuses on your life in the present and on how you would like to move forward. It is future-oriented and helps you take meaningful steps with greater insight, confidence and direction.
How I work

Psychological coaching can help with
- personal development and self-insight
- stress and strengthening resilience
- breaking recurring patterns
- setting boundaries and making choices
- creating more balance between work and private life
- self-confidence and finding direction
